The history of Privoz’s slow murder has been discussed many times as in the printed media so as in the Internet. Now the same situation is with market Noviy Rinok. It is one of the oldest markets in Odessa. It was founded in 1812. In the forties of 19 century at the territory of the market were built first two-storeyed trade buildings with opened galleries which were designed by the architector N. S. Kozlov. In 1896 according to the project of engineer A. D. Todorov were built the buildings with high sale rooms and glass roof, which have occupied two blocks at Torgovaya Street. In 1921 the buildings markets with roof turned into arena where gaterinngs, meetings, concerts and circus show have taken place.
It gone through not one fire, in the result of one of them the main attrection of the market — the church - was burned down. Now on its place is night car park which is guarded by a half homeless person- half parking attendant. This market is considered to be one of the most expensive markets in the city. Probaly more expensive is only mini market at 7th station of Big Fountain. All these things haven’t changed not at all the attitude to the market. At first, like the Privos also, it was enclosed with a whole battery of pavilion trimed by plastic lining boards with socks, bolts and other Turkish-Chinese joys. Then the very renovation began. And the main masterpiece, the sign, impresses even the most doltish persons.
The market with such an architecture could give mediately much more money as one of the tourist lights of the city, but momentary interests are first of all. Present-day children will be able only to read and to examine the postcards with images of this market. Against this background the renewal of the Lutheran church made on the money of private investors looks like architectural and cultural feat.

Увы, у нас о туризме вообще мало кто думает, как о неприоритетной отрасли вообще.
А такие вещи как культовые рынки имеют для города такое же значение как Потемкинская лестница..
Я приезжала в Одессу пару лет назад, впервые, и в первую очередь хотела как раз Привоз посмотреть, но китайские радости, как вы это называете, отбивают весь интерес, как и новые реконструкционные проекты. Так жаль..
Еще в Одессе, глядя на количество и состояние(!) старых зданий (на которых почему-то даже не висят знаки “Памятник архитектуры”), первый вопрос приходит в голову – что будет через 50 лет? При такой степени запущенности, по идее снесут, просто полгорода и построят новое… только вот новое что?))
