The contest which was announced is new, the rules are concrete, so if you have some fresh ideas, thoughts and abilities of its realization, I invite you to take part in this contest. And not as a critics but exclusively as mark etrs – creators-artists.

I have translated from the state language into Russian the document about the rules of holding the contest.

To take part in the contest it is necessary to make application and pass it to the Department of recreational complex and tourism of Odessa City Council at the address: 8, Deribasovskaya Street, Odessa.

The draft of tourist emblem of Odessa city (in black-and-white and in color versions) must be submitted in electronic format.

The drafts must be submitted for the contest in the form of original font solutions, special graphic emblems and also in the form of linking font solutions and emblem.

The short text description must be attached to the draft.

Printed drafts of emblems must be submitted on the sheets of A-4 format.

To take part in the contest of tourist slogans it is necessary to make application and present the example of tourist slogan of the city (short advertising message about Odessa which would describe the city, emphasize its individuality and promote the attraction of tourists) to the Department of recreational complex and tourism of Odessa City Council

When developing the drafts of emblems and slogans one should take into account that tourist emblem and slogans must be original and memorable and to present tourists objects and tourist potential of Odessa in the best possible way. It is necessary to foresee the possibility of effective usage of tourist symbols both on the big banners and on the promotional products (T-shirts, caps, stationery etc.).

Additionally tourist symbols must assume its usage on the printing products and photo-, video products.

Total amount of work presented within one application is limited by one project. The works will be accepted till 8 of October 2010.

Reception hours since 10:00 am. till 04:00 p.m daily, except weekend.

The appointments are conducted by Коvalenko Аnjelika Коnstantinovna – deputy director of the Department of recreational complex and tourism of Odessa City Council.

Competitive selection of project.

The selection of projects is made by jury of the contest. Personal composition of the jury is approved by the order of mayor.

The work of jurymen isn’t payable.

The session of jury is considered to be effective if no less then two thirds of jurymen will be present there.

The projects are submitted to the jury in the following composition:

concept of the project (draft of logo);

explanatory note.

The voting of jury is conducted in two rounds, at that each juryman has one vote. The decision of the jury is accepted by simple majority by means of secret ballot. In the event of divided vote the head of jury has full voting status.

The decision of the jury, recommendations about art improvement of the project should be executed in the form of report, which must be signed by the head and the secretary of jury.

The decision of jury is the reason to prepare the project of Odessa City Council’s decision about approval of official tourist logo of Odessa. The information about the results of jury’s work is opened.

The usage right of Odessa’s tourist logo which won in the contest belongs to the local socity of Odessa city.

The opinions of the residents of Odessa who has voted for the logo and the opinion of Artemiy Lebedev differ in the main.

Тhe opinion of Artemiy Lebedev  about the logo ANCJOR from  Ivan Voin  who has represented two versions of the city’s logo looks like this.

It is very cool logo. Remove the slogan and use the logo in the city. It would look especially cool on the official city posters. Also it can be printed on the T-shirts and sold with success. And the question with spelling is solved elegantly here. In a word this is very good logo for Odessa, I love it already.

As you remember, in June I have offered to all not indifferent residents of Odessa to meet and think about how excactly can look the real logo  of our city. Till September 2009 we have got a plenty of versions of grafic solitions from which our workgroup has chosen 7 the most bright versions.Then these versions were offered for voting to the residents of Odessa in each restaurant and cafe of Resta Corporation, on my blogs and on the site of studio Mart  http://logo.of.odessa.ua/.

According to the results of voting which was held within 4 months more then 10 000 persons have taken part in the poll. I would like also to pay your attention on that the results of offline-poll have shown that the guests of different restaurants have chosen different versions.

I can’t not to mention that the votes for the logo-winer on the site http://logo.of.odessa.ua/  have been  boosted obviously and instead of  calling upon for choosing the logo of the city the author called upon to vote for his version. But his lead is obvious enough as it is.

We congratulate Аrsen Chelidze  on victory in the offline-voting and say Happy Birthday!

P.S. Additionally I have sentt all versions for review to Аrtemiy Lebedev.

According to this reference you can acquaint yourself with all the versions offered during the joint  work of the  not indifferent citizens of Odessa over the Odessa tourist logo and also with those versions which will be offered and/or  improved in future.

Also you can join the process. The other day I will publish something like a brief or rather the direction  „where we going and where we are not going“.The main theses:
  • Going away from the first things associated with the city-resort : the sun and the sea (direct and banal image of one and another).
  • Odessa — the very word is self-sufficient enough.
  • We should not be obsessed with one of Odessa funny ones : history, culture, and all the more  known only on the space of former  USSR.
  • Remember this is а) tourist, b) logo.
  • It was remarked right that it is people who are  the basic bearers of city’s  charisma.

The considerable part of the tourists liked more Liliya’s T-shirt.

Maybe the hooks pointing to the anchor at my logo have made less positive impression.

And maybe the point is that about which the guest of the city didn’t want to tell point-blank. In any case the quantity of the approving looks at Liliya differed much from the quantity of any looks at me. Maybe the light has fallen wrong?

One way or anothre it has happened!

I have made sure on my own T-shirt that even the officials have smiled while examining either logo on the T-shirt or  the T-shirt with logo on me. One very well-to-do resident of Odessa have expressed an opinion that I advertise some product or promotional event. Opinions differ…

The most impressive looks at our side were from the workers of the shops Symbol and Cardinal. The cliché were teared finally.
